Development and implementation of a pilot validation test for a mobile health strategy for patients with endometriosis.

Fundació Privada de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Trilema Salud

Endometriosis is a chronic disease that affects 10% of women of reproductive age, causing abdominal pain and subfertility. To improve its monitoring, the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, together with the company Trilema Salud, has developed the Endometric platform, an innovative digital solution based on mobile health and telemedicine.

This tool includes a mobile application and a web platform to track symptoms, treatment, and the menstrual cycle, with direct communication with healthcare professionals.

The main goal of the pilot is to assess patient satisfaction and validate the experience with the new version of the application. Initial results show an improvement in satisfaction, although usability improvements have been identified to ensure better adherence.

This project has been driven by the Fundació Privada de l’Hospital Sant Pau, thanks to funding provided for the development of innovative projects.

Validation roadmap for an interactive web platform for surgical planning of cardiac interventions.
Validation Roadmap

Validation roadmap for an interactive web platform for surgical planning of cardiac interventions.

VIDAA, Virtest

VIDAA provides doctors with a tool to anticipate interventions by selecting the optimal device, size, and position, and predicting how the device will interact with the heart’s dynamics, minimizing complications and ensuring the best outcomes for each patient.

The main objective is to evaluate the VIDAA system as a support tool for pre-surgical planning, analyzing its usability, user experience, and predictive capability for complications. Additionally, a methodology is designed to assess its predictive capacity in device-related thrombotic events (DRT) and the concordance of results with medical records.

Development of a Virtual Reality Prototype as a Therapeutic Tool to Improve Functionality in Patients with Schizophrenia

NTT DATA, Digital Health Institute by NTT DATA

This project successfully developed a Virtual Reality (VR) prototype with a therapeutic approach for patients with schizophrenia. Through a co-creation process between mental health professionals and technology experts, a specific use case was identified to apply VR as a therapeutic tool. This collaboration allowed for the integration of clinical and technological knowledge, creating an innovative solution aimed at improving patients’ autonomy, functionality, and cognitive symptoms in a safe environment.

Although this is a first step, further research and clinical studies are needed to validate its benefits. This project fosters new research in VR applied to mental health.

Development and implementation of a pilot validation of a mobile health strategy for patients with spondyloarthritis

Grants for the promotion of innovative projects for the clinical validation of digital health solutions by the Fundació Privada de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau 2023 + Trilema Salud.
Pilot test

The Digital Health Validation Center has led a digital health strategy to improve the follow-up of patients with spondyloarthritis, a chronic inflammatory disease. The MoviSalud platform has been developed in collaboration with Trilema Salud, integrating tools to monitor disease activity, treatment adherence, and promote healthy habits.

Tested in 15 patients, the study assessed the satisfaction, experience, and usability of the application, with the goal of evolving toward the final RheumAssist platform. The results show an increase in satisfaction and better management of healthcare resources.

This innovation enhances patients' quality of life and positions Sant Pau as a leader in digital health, paving the way for new solutions for chronic conditions. This project has been supported by the Fundació Privada de l’Hospital Sant Pau through grants for the development of innovative projects.

Pilot test for validation of the “e-Hospital4Future” eLearning platform

EURECAT
Proof of concept

In the context of the eHospitals4Future project, an e-Learning platform has been developed, containing various courses aimed at clinical professionals, with content focused on the digital health field.

The project’s goal is to validate these courses with clinical professionals, specifically in the nursing field, to evaluate satisfaction and acquired knowledge.

Clinical validation of a multicenter coordination strategy for the care of patients with femur fractures.
Clinical validation

Clinical validation of a multicenter coordination strategy for the care of patients with femur fractures.

Institut de Recerca

Femoral neck fractures in older adults lead to increased morbidity, functional deterioration, mortality, and healthcare costs, as well as an increase in dependence and institutionalization in the year following the fracture. The incidence in individuals over 65 years old is around 4-6 cases per 1,000 inhabitants/year in Europe, and Catalonia is one of the areas with the highest incidence.

The FLS project advances the care of fragility fractures by creating a territorial fracture coordination unit, involving the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, the Intermediate Care Hospitals in the region, and their Day Hospitals (Hèstia Palau, Nou Hospital Evangèlic, Mutuam Güell, ESIC Dos de Maig).

The use of technology has allowed overcoming the main limitations of interlevel programs in our healthcare environment and has enabled the unification of clinical follow-up for patients with femur fractures, promoted cohesion among professionals at the centers, and improved the unified integration of clinical data.

Clinical validation and implementation in clinical practice of a mobile health strategy for the follow-up of heart transplant patients.

Institut de Recerca

The objective of the mHeart project is to offer a technological solution that brings healthcare closer to heart transplant patients, a population of special interest due to its high complexity. The development of this tool has shown significant improvements in patient adherence, as well as increased satisfaction and a reduction in emergency department revisits.

This tool enables patients to better manage their condition by allowing them to record various health parameters such as weight and blood pressure. These records are linked to an alarm system that enables personalized and proactive care. The tool also includes the option to integrate patient questionnaires to assess their clinical progress and overall experience. A messaging channel facilitates bidirectional communication with the patient.

The project has been implemented in clinical practice since 2018 and is offered to all heart transplant patients treated at our center.

Digitization of the traceability and delivery of medications and nutrition applying the Lean & Six Sigma methodology.

Lenora Software, S.L.
Validation Roadmap

The dispensing of hospital medication (MHDA) and enteral nutrition (NE) was analyzed, identifying barriers such as travel, accessibility, and congestion at delivery points. Using a Lean approach and a multidisciplinary team, a standardized process was designed with the digital tool LENORA SEEDH, which provides traceability, flexible dispensing, adherence monitoring, and online communication.

The project includes a validation protocol to assess its impact on time, satisfaction, and adherence, transforming processes into efficient, automated, and patient-centered workflows, achieving higher quality and added value in the care process.
